Change in Management
January 30, 2025
On behalf of TESco Associates, the premier specialist for the processing of bioabsorbable materials and devices based in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts, I am sending you this press release to inform you of some major changes at TESco. I would like to announce that after 45 years our Founder and President Larry Thatcher is stepping back from his role as President/CEO at TESco, to focus on spending more time with his family and friends. At the same time, I will be stepping into the role of President/CEO of TESco. I am excited to share that Allison Clark will be moving into the role of Vice-President. Joining the Executive Management team will also be Justin Ritter, Carlos Kinosian and Rebekah Thatcher.
TESco was founded in 1980 as a plastics engineering consulting firm. At the time Larry and his wife Lo, “mortgaged the house, kids and the wife”, as he would often say, to establish the company, pay bills and begin what would ultimately turn into an extraordinary 45-year adventure. Since that time TESco has grown from a small startup in a rented warehouse, manufacturing plastic polo balls, F-16 refueling nozzles and medical tray inserts, to a company focused on bioabsorbable medical devices and materials. To bolster the success and growth of TESco, CaP Biomaterials, a leader in Calcium Phosphate manufacturing, joined the TESco family in 2019.
Larry’s unparallelled knowledge and drive for excellence has guided TESco to be the company it is today and fostered respect across a broad spectrum of fields and experts, many of whom became close friends and supporters.
Since the first introduction of PLLA to the medical device field in the 1970s, Larry has been at the forefront of material development and bioabsorbable medical device manufacturing. With his strong scientific background, Larry was instrumental in developing processing technologies including specialty compounding and injection molding involving various other bioabsorbable polymers and copolymers. He has made significant contributions in Medical Device applications including bioabsorbable sports medicine implants, coronary stents, vascular closure devices and many more.
It is with this rich history, commitment and dedication to excellence and science, and with decades of experience, that TESco enters the New Year by closing one chapter and beginning another.
While Larry will remain as President Emeritus and remain semi-active within TESco, we wish Larry and his wife Lo the best and hope that their next adventure together is as packed as this last one was.
TESco will continue to remain at the forefront of bioabsorbable material development and processing. As TESco seeks to expand its services and capabilities, we will stay true to our core values, such as quality, innovation and commitment to our customers and to the TESco-family, while expanding our scope of business, starting with packaging and sterilization management services.
Keep an eye open for more news from TESco as we begin our next adventure!
Chris Thatcher
President & CEO, TESco Associates, Inc.
